TODAY'S SUBJECT: Hennessey Capital's support of the Salvation Army Jr. Bed and Bread Club.

THE CAUSE: The Salvation Army's Jr. Bed and Bread Club pays for the delivery of meals to homeless people and provides them with shelter.
It is called the Jr. Bed and Bread Club because much of the money is raised by kids, putting them into a giving-back frame of mind that can be nurtured as they grow.

BACKGROUND: The third annual Detroit Red Wings Alumni game vs. Royal Oak Hockey Association Coaches & Alumni will be held Saturday at the John Lindell Ice Arena in Royal Oak.
It is one of several events each year in which the Red Wings Alumni team participates for charitable causes. This is the third year that Hennessey Capital is serving as the major sponsor of the event. In a related event, the Salvation Army and the Royal Oak Hockey Association will host the third annual skate-a-thon from 7-9 p.m. Friday, also at the John Lindell Arena. The public is invited to skate for a minimum donation of $10 in support of the 22nd annual Dick Purtan Radiothon, which benefits the Salvation Army's Jr. Bed and Bread Club.

RESULTS: Hennessey Capital has contributed $15,000 to the Salvation Army Jr. Bed and Bread Club in the last three years, not including additional Hennessey Capital staff member donations. In 2008, the total raised at the two-day event was more than $30,000.

INFORMATION: Tickets for the alumni event at 7:30 p.m. Saturday are available for $12 per person. To purchase tickets for the alumni event or the skate-a-thon, contact Sarah Yerke at 248-443-5500, ext. 348 or Tickets are limited. The John Lindell Ice Arena is at 1403 Lexington Blvd., Royal Oak -- two blocks north of 13 Mile Road and one block east of Crooks. To obtain sponsorship information for either event, contact Christina Gallop at 248-330-2146.
